England or U.S.A.?
“LA DUE GIORNI DELLA LINGUA INGLESE”
Considering my “idiosyncrasy” in relation to our local music and the modest knowledge of everything that is not british or north american, I have always wondered, in the pop-rock genre, what my preferences are. As an exaggerated lover of prog and of the Scarafaggi, I would be inclined to stay in Europe, but if I think of Giacomino Endris, Le Porte, Franco Hoe, then the hand returns to the center... (it only moves though)
And for you?

Re: England or U.S.A.?
Well,
long time ago when I was young (very young as a teenager) my first and heavy interests where for England (scarafaggi, genesi - with the amazing Michele Ruttoforte Antonio Filippi Antonio Banco and Pietro Gabriele- Fluido Rosa, Gigante Gentile, SI, Re Cremisi, il Generatore di Graaf) but later I have oriented my interests in America too : l'aeroplano di jefferfon then evolved to astronave, il morto grato, "gli uccelli" (not those of Alfredo Galloalto, but those of Ruggero maccaG and Davide C), le porte, la primavera di Buffalo and many others (la banda degli spezzacuore di Tommaso Petti, for example)...
I would say I reached a certain balance of preferences, in Rock Music... maybe...

Re: England or U.S.A.?
Is not a question of countries, i loved some artists from England and some artist from USA.
I can't stand some music genres, some of this is from USA......
In the first place, triste.

Re: England or U.S.A.?
Michele Ruttoforte is the real "winner-man" in that band...
when he was young he started playing acustic six and twelve string guitar,
but he was also the highest in his band, so they forced him to play bass guitar
what I have said is not a joke, the above detail is technicaly important, the bass guitar requires VERY LONG FINGERS typical of a tall person, characteristic of "Pluto"(for friends) aka Michele Ruttoforte...

Re: England or U.S.A.?
When I was young, so much younger than today, I was listening only to italian music: I was a little child, eight or nine years old, and I already loved buying records, and I still do today. My chosen ones was Paolo Ankar and a band called Le Roce (ehm…); they were strangers: the first came down from Canada and the latter from London, but they sang in a funny italian. I liked so much the strange way they sang italian lyrics like “onnivoltaonnivoltachetonno...” or “lapiogiacadesiudenoi” which means respectively “every time I come back”, and “the rain is falling over our heads...” On the magazines I read they were called the italian Scarafagi (with an "a").
So I said: well, let’s hear the originals then!
And I came across a single 7” by a group that sang La Pioggia (once again!) and I thought: Oh my God, that’s so fine!
Gianni Legno was singing like a devil and like an angel, Paolo Carta played his great bass lines, Giorgio figlio di Harri spoke with his Rickenbacker guitar and Anello Stella played drums with his nose! They were called the Scarabei and suddenly everything changed! Then came Le Pietre di Michelino La Lingua, and all that Brits with beat, prog and glam and punk, Davide Boh(!) e I Tulli di Getro, il Fluido Rosa, la Genesi del Sì, il figlio di Emer, Lago e il Palmipede, and so on...
But I’ve got to say that very soon I had to know a curl-haired boy named Rob DiLanno with his tongue of fire, and a long tall guy named Nello Giovane, and then Bruno Primaverile and Louigi Roosso e La Metroipolitana di Velluto: I loved them all.
But as ever the first love is never forgotten and therefore now I say UK: even in my travels I have always preferred the old Europe to the New York steel and glass scryscrapers.
I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now. It’s a hope.

@ Twoofus
I agree with you, particullary on "i scarabei" a band also note with other name (maybe "scarafaggi" ?)
I remember that the first hit I love of them was "AIUTO!" or something else...
In my memory, when i lived in France, the local radio transmitted often another lovable song of their repertoire, called "Michela"...
a propos, on pourrais dire che je parle et j'ecrit l'Anglais le meme q'un etranger qui parle le Français come "une vache espagnole"... tsk tsk...

Re: England or U.S.A.?
My god. .Who is “ il morto grato?”
Ok, I started with England , i LOVE English style, because , in my opinion, they have a special music touch
I started with Due rane Due rane, when i was very young teen, and yes. . I was in love with Simone il Buono , I had his poster on my bedroom wall. I think he is a charming man also today !
Then, one day, maybe in 1987 i think, i discovered a record in my brother’s room, with a lovely face in front of the cover: i liked it very much, and i thought: “ i want to listen to this man!” . It was “Cosi’” , of Pietro Gabriele, an English artist that i didn’t know.
BUM!! Love at first sight!! My brother told me that he was in a band called La Genesi, and showed me some records, like for example “Il crimine della cameretta”. Many years later, i wanted to listen also to these records and. . .BUM! Another love!

Did you live in France? Great! Well I love France too, and I've often been in lovely Paris; I remember in Montmartre I had a belly full of those delicious macarons! I've been in Nice and Cannes too. And you, where did you live?
When I was young I loved french songs and french artists such as Dalida, Adamo, Sylvie Vartan... Irresistiblement, La nuit, Mes Mains Sur Tes Hanches... Unfortunately I am not very good at French.
